It’s that time of year when we celebrate moms. But the definition of “mom” is always changing and expanding. In this day and age, being a pet parent definitely qualifies. In fact, there are many reasons why our precious pets are better than actual human children. Here are just a few:
Newborn babies are always crying. Newborn puppies or kittens, on the other hand, basically just sleep and look cute all day. Also, I’ve never once seen a kitten throw a temper tantrum in the middle of a grocery store. Can’t say that about most toddlers.
They’re always glad to see you.
Does your child greet you at the door every time you come home? If so, congrats. You’re one of the lucky few. But for some parents, they’re lucky to get a “hi” out of their teenager when they walk through the door. Not so with a darling doggy. No matter their age, they’re always willing to welcome you with plenty of slurps.
See this pink thing? You're supposed to put treats on it, Dad. 😛😛😛 #feedme #throwback to 3 months old
Babies will never be as furry and cozy as puppies. If they were, that would be weird. There’s really nothing better than snuggling up with your little (or big) fluffball and that’s just something no human can compete with.
A snuggaboo since the start. Who do you love THIS much?
They cost less.
Babies need diapers. Teenagers need clothes. Young adults need college tuition. All this stuff really adds up. Don’t get me wrong, pets can definitely be expensive. But their kibble and collar are a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of an actual child.

They don’t talk back.
I remember how horrible I was to my mom when I was 15. And I would never wish that upon any parent. But when your pet goes through their “teen” years, they would never say they hate you. They just continue to pup around and be their normal, adorable selves.
Some people think this might be up for debate. Babies are cute and everything, but I just think that nothing is more precious than a puppy or kitten. Something about those little noses and jellybean paws just makes my heart flutter. Sorry, but your picture of a newborn baby just doesn’t do that for me.
