This TV Star Brings His Cat Everywhere

Although he plays a tough guy on TV, Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead does have a soft spot for his feline friend. Reedus has talked about his cat, Eye in the Dark, in multiple interviews and was even featured with him in People‘s “Sexiest Man Alive” issue in 2013.

The cat’s unusual name comes from Reedus’ son Mingus. Reedus rescued the black kitten  and brought it home at the request of 5-year-old Mingus. The family home had black floors at the time, so the kitten blended in. Mingus noted that he could only see the cat’s eyes, which led to the unique name.

Although Reedus has a busy Hollywood schedule, he never leaves Eye in the Dark behind. On his most recent trip to LA for The Walking Dead premiere, the kitty lounged in his hotel room as he attended the event. Reedus documented the cat and his run-in with the housekeeping staff on Instagram.

Thank you everyone for last night was so fun ❤️

A little note on the bed states that the hotel staff could not make the bed, due to Eye in the Dark’s refusal to get up. Although this cat came from humble beginnings, it seems he’s enjoying the life of luxury.

“He comes everywhere with me. He doesn’t like to be left alone. He racks up a major room service bill,” Reedus told Us.

But Eye in the Dark isn’t just popular with his owner. The Walking Dead fans have grown to be pretty fond of him, too. One fan even started a Twitter account called @NormansCat in tribute to the star’s pet.

Reedus and his cat go to show that even if you have a tough exterior, there’s always room for an animal-loving heart.
