This Photographer Matches Dogs With Humans and It’s Incredible

There’s nothing doing a photo shoot of you and your dog to immortalize the true bond between man and his best friend. And you’ve likely seen a bunch of photographs of other dogs and their owners, too. But now one photographer is actually matching dogs and humans—in the physical sense—and the results are truly remarkable.

The photographer, Gerrard Gethings, is a professional shutterbug from London, as first reported by BuzzFeed, who stumbled upon the new practice when he noticed a bearded man and a schnauzer in a park. Although he didn’t shoot the duo, it did spark the idea for Gethings to find look-alike pups and people to photograph.

His project started with the dogs first—and then finding the matching human—before photographing both pup and the person in the most similar setting as possible. For example, Gethings made sure that he controlled for light, background, and poses.

What’s more, after shooting 50 pairs of “twins,” his photography went on to be the part of a board game dubbed “Do You Look Like Your Dog?” And although the game isn’t yet available for purchase, the images already went viral on the internet about a week ago. Gethings has be so bemused with the positive reaction that he even told BuzzFeed he hopes to have a full exhibit up by Christmas and that he was pleasantly surprising by the “staggering” feedback. Are you surprised, though?!
