This Genius Hack Will Make It So Much Easier to Give Your Dog a Bath

Some dogs love a good bath and relish in rinsing off in cool water. Other pups, though, aren’t as pro-tubby as one would hope, and some are downright skittish, ready to bolt the second they can. Practically all dogs, though, really love themselves some peanut butter. And while you’d never think to combine your dog’s bath with a scoop of the good stuff, turns out that’s exactly what you need if you’ve got an animal who prefers bolting to bathing.

The trick, found on the popular life hacks subreddit, is almost too simple: Just smear some peanut butter on the wall and get to bathing your pup, as first reported by BuzzFeed. But first, of course, make sure the surface on which you’ll spread PB is 100 percent clean and chemical free.

Since gaining viral steam, many dog owners have taken to Instagram to show off their pets’ bathing-and-eating skills—adorably, as expected. What’s more, it’s a great trick to keep in mind for all kinds of future situations in which you need to distract your dog but keep them in one place. Think brushing, combing, and nail trims, for example—they generally hate to be groomed. But when there’s peanut butter involved, everyone’s game for a good spa session.
