Shelter Has Genius Idea For Getting More Pets Home for the Holidays

As Christmas turns to New Year’s, it’ll soon be 2019…and there’s a loads of pets who would love to kick off next year in a new home. One Ohio dog shelter has come up with a fantastic way to make that happen.

According to the Springfield New Sun, the Clark County Dog Shelter’s new Angel Program “allows people to sponsor a dog’s spay or neuter costs. That in turn, lowers the adoption price for someone who is ready to bring a dog home.”

The price of an adoption is usually around $200, but with sponsorship, that could drop to as low as $65.

The shelter’s warden said good samaritans can choose to sponsor the entire cost of the spay or neuter, which runs about $83-$138 depending on the sex and size of the dog — but they can also just sponsor part of the cost.

The shelter’s Facebook page has the above video with the following message:

“We have some amazing dogs that want nothing more than to be loved and home for the holidays. But even if you can’t adopt right now, you can help! YOU can help change the lives of dogs in our very own shelter!

Today kicks of our Angels program for the holidays. You can be one of our dog’s very own guardian angel and give them the gift of a spay or neuter! Just come in, pick out one of our wonderful dogs on our tree (their tags have their spay/neuter amount on it), and sponsor their spay or neuter. This brings their adoption fee to just $65, which GREATLY increases their chance of being adopted.

Come see us today and help save a life. We are open Monday – Saturday 12-4. We want nothing more than our wonderful pups to be home for Christmas.

These are just some of our dogs that either need angels or have found their guardian angel and are awaiting their forever home.

♥♥♥ If you can’t adopt, foster, if you can’t foster, donate, if you can’t donate, volunteer, if you can’t volunteer, share ♥♥♥”

Such a great idea! Love it when crowdsourcing turns out to benefits pets and people…and make for one merry Christmas.
