Ryan Gosling And His Dog Are Pet Goals

Ryan Gosling is pretty much the closest thing to a perfect specimen I could imagine and I will fight you to the death if you disagree. Probably the best thing about him is his pure, unrivaled love for his dog George. Gosling adopted this mixed-breed in 2000 from an animal shelter and the two have been inseparable ever since.

Eva Mendes may have his heart now, but Georgeling (Gosling and George’s couple name, naturally) is all I’m interested in. Georgeling has been the talk of the Hollywood community for years. In 2003, George even came on set when Ryan was filming. He sported his signature mohawk, which Gosling lovingly gave him to help him deal with the LA heat.

In 2011, Georgeling made their television debut with an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. George appeared with his special mohawk and obviously stole the show. He happily accepted apple treats and showed off his obedience skills for the live audience.

In an interview with The Independent, Gosling gushed about his furry friend. In typical humble Gosling manner, he said: “George is way more interesting than I am. I’d much rather talk about him.” He later goes on to explain that he even has special paperwork that lets him bring George with him wherever he goes.

This beautiful love story between man and mutt, however, might not have a happy ending. In December 2016, at 16 years of age, George was taken to the vet by his beloved human. Paparazzi photos show Gosling dropping the bundled pup off at the vet and leaving with human partner Eva Mendes. Since then, no new news has surfaced of George’s health. But at 16 years old, George has lived a long and happy life with his pal Ryan. I cannot imagine the pain and heartbreak Gosling felt if his canine companion did indeed cross over the rainbow bridge. But for now, all we can do is celebrate the wonderful bond between a dude and his dog.
