We spoil our dogs in so many ways, but when it comes time for dinner, we scoop store bought kibble into their bowl and continue on with our nights. While I’m not suggesting your pet dine at the table with you for a 7 course meal, there are some ways to spice up feeding time by adding in these “people” foods that are also fabulous treats for pups!
Yogurt
It has the same benefits for us as it does for them. Rich in calcium and protein, Yogurt is a perfect guilt free snack to give your pooch. When choosing which yogurt to feed your pet, pick one that has no added sugar or artificial sweeteners. If you had a pudgy guy, opt for fat free!
Salmon
Nemo may have thought that “fish are friends not food”, but your doggo will likely disagree. This fatty fish is a great source of omega-3, which helps pups immune system, skin, and coat. Served cooked. The same benefits apply to simply putting salmon oil in your pets food should you not want to give them the actual fish.
Sweet Potatoes
These yummy treats are already found in tons of dog products since they contain dietary fibre and vitamins B6, C, beta carotene, and manganese. Serve cooked or dehydrate and turn it into a DIY chewy toy!
Eggs
An eggcellent option for your dogs! This healthy treat provides the perfect protein boost. Be sure to serve the egg cooked and always give the full egg, not just the white! If you’re dog is in puppy training or any agility type courses, consider bringing eggs as a nutritious treat during the classes. The protein boost will help them outshine their peers!
Apples
Crunchy and delicious! Apples are a fabulous source of Vitamins A and C and fibre for your pup! Served with or without peanut butter, your dog will be in heaven (just make sure not to give them the core).
In the future, whenever you’re feeling generous at meal time consider these yummy snacks to make your pups tail wag even more!
