NYC Is Getting A Cat Film Festival

Cannes. Tribeca. Sundance. South by Southwest. Cat? Yes, starting December 9th, you can add it to the list of film festivals. This year’s festival actually marks the first of its kind, which is definitely exciting for many cat-loving fans.

The Cat Film Festival is set to showcase a series of different short films, both in the documentary and narrative style. One focuses on the inspiring story of a paralyzed cat in a wheelchair. Another dives into the lives of street cats in Argentina. Despite the range of topics, all the films have one thing in common: feline stars.

All of this came together under the direction of Tracie Hotchner, a pet-focused radio personality. She teamed up with sponsors such as Dr. Elsey’s quality cat products to host this event at the School for Visual Arts. If you’re interested in going, tickets are available on the Cat Film Festival website. Each screening has a separate ticket, and they each retail for under $20.

Dog lovers, don’t despair. There’s a film festival for you, too. The Dog Film Festival is also organized by Hotchner, and it’s already in it’s third year. Over the past few years, the festival has brought attention to plenty of dog-themed films. This year’s lineup features a unique look at dogs around the world.

So whether you prefer fidos or felines, there’s a festival for you. If you’re in the New York area this December, make sure you grab a seat for one of these amazing pet-focused films.
