Light Reading For The Litter Box

The internet is a strange place. A lot of that strangenesss happens to be concentrated on one site in particular: Reddit. This social media platform meets news outlet meets meme repository is filled with wacky stories each and every single day. Recently, one about a special cat newspaper happened to catch our eye.

It all started with a post entitled: “Our daughters write a newspaper for Baba the cat to read while indisposed.” Naturally, curiosity got the best of us and we just had to see what this was all about. When you open the post, you’re met with this hilarious photo of none other than Baba the cat:

Yes, this cat is using his litter box. And yes, it looks like he is actually reading this adorable hand-drawn newspaper. These kids have certainly been raised to be very thoughtful pet owners. Upon closer review, it seems that they’re pretty punny as well.

PEOPLE magazine got a chance to chat with proud father and cat owner Jarrod Krieger about his daughters’ very creative publication. He said his 10 and 12-year-old daughters got their inspiration from watching Baba stare at the wall as he did his business.

“They have made a couple issues so far,” Krieger tells PEOPLE.

So while currently this newspaper only lives in the Krieger household, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it on newsstands in the near future. I’m sure there are plenty of cat lovers on our site alone that would love to give their kitty a bit of light reading for the litter box.
