According to AZFamily.com, while Laurie Becerra’s dog, Smokey, and her daughter’s dog, Remus, were playing within their fenced area, they broke out and a life-threatening accident happened…with the dogs’ humans not even knowing about it. Good thing the dogs had each other’s backs.
Smokey, who isn’t a strong swimmer, fell into the pool and began struggling to keep his head above water. Then, the most heartwarming thing happened: His friend jumped in and saved him. Remus was able to get behind Smokey and give him a boost out of the pool.
The only reason the Mesa, Arizona family knew what happened was because of security camera footage from the day it occurred at the end of April.
“At first, when I saw it, I started crying because it was very hard to see Smokey struggling. And still when I watch it, I’m like, oh my gosh,” Laurie told AZFamily.com.
Remus can’t always be around (he lives in Phoenix), so the Becerras bought Smokey a bright orange life vest to wear outside. Now he’ll always be safe!
