Ella Bean’s Guide to South Beach

I can’t imagine living any place aside from New York City, but let’s be real. Nothing is ever as good as vacation. I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach and lived it up in paradise.

That said, I’ve been to South Beach a number of times and have an extensive list of pup friendly faves.

Stay

The Standard Spa, South Beach: It does not get dog friendlier then this hotel. I was greeted by the staff (shout-out to Crispy at the concierge for the amazing organic treats!), I had my aura photographed, I hung out at the bar & drank bottled water from a wine glass and snacked on the world’s best tater tots while sitting by the bay. I cannot wait to go back.

Shopping Musts

The Dog Bar: Chic clothing and organic food options abound at this brightly colored dog store. They also have grooming on site if you are in need of a touch up.

Alchemist: Lincoln Road and Design District. Edgy fun, high end shopping. Super well curated. Man Human bought a Buscemi hat. They couldn’t have been more friendly to me. Love that.

The Webster: Full disclosure, they were not super dog friendly and I’m not down with that, but the Chanel selection is fairly epic, so it’s worth a look.

Base Superstore: Base is an ultra cool men’s store selling smaller, culty fashion brands. Even though it’s a men’s store, both lady and man human did plenty of shopping. Think drop crotch sweatpants and concept loungewear. I personally enjoyed the extra attention from the staff.

Food Faves

Beachcraft: HOLY OCTUPUS. We ate that dish three times. Go get it, now.

Michael’s Genuine: A plate of homemade canine friendly cookies was served. ‘Nuff said. Oh, humans said the pizza was awesome too.

Izzy’s Fish and Oyster: Outdoor seating was very Bean friendly. The staff made sure I had fresh water at all times and my humans shared their excellent lobster rolls and may have even snuck me an oyster or two.

Mandolin Aegean Bistro: You know my feelings on outdoor seating: crucial. This greek bistro has covered outdoor seating, so a few showers are no excuse to leave your pup at home. Stand-outs were the Greek Sampler, mussels and whole sea bass.
