Dog Beaches For Labor Day

Labor Day is known as the unofficial last day of summer, and most people use the long weekend to hit the beach one last time. If you’re a dog owner, that means one last time to get all sandy with your furry friend. Here are some of the best dog beaches in the country if you’re looking for a final hurrah with your beachy bow wow.

Mad River County Park in Northern California

Don’t let the name fool you. This “park” will definitely give you all the beach adventures your heart desires. This coastal area is known for being very serene and a great place to see wildlife. Dogs are allowed to roam freely without a leash, just as long as the owner can see them at all times.

Delaware is known for its many beaches, and Dewey Beach is the place to go with your pup. They allow dogs off leash, but the times are restricted during the summer season. You can bring your dog before 9:30 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m., so if you’re looking for an early morning or sunset play session, Dewey Beach is the one for you.

This place for pups is perfect for Labor Day weekend. It allows dogs off leash and is only open on the weekends. The hours are limited from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., but that’s still a good four hours of beachy bow wow fun. If you’re headed down to Florida for LDW, definitely make this beach your first stop.

Chicago really is the best of both worlds. You get to enjoy both the city and the beach with your canine companion, and it doesn’t get much better than that. The dog-friendly area is a place for your pup to roam freely, just as long as they have a tag to prove they’re in good health.
