Dear Animal Lover,
Great question!!
To support veterinarians who are in the affected areas trying to help the animals, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) is providing reimbursement to veterinarians who provide care to the animals affected by the storm. (AVMF website) You may donate to the AVMF using the code Disaster Relief when completing the donation form. Questions about how you can help may be submitted to disastergrant@avma.org.
The Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine is assisting both people and animals affected by the storm. You can learn more by visiting their Facebook page.
The state of Texas has begun to set up a Pet Support Task Force to provide assistance for the state Emergency Operations Center. The American Red Cross is working to provide animal and pet-friendly shelters. The Red Cross will help the pet parents and consequently help the pets as well.
Visit the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (AVMA’s) website for more information about organizations, companies, and partners in the animal health industry that will offer assistance.
Thank you for caring. Hopefully, we can get through this together. Thanks!
